Age: 37

Ability: Pain Infliction

  • The ability to inflict pain into an individuals’ mind, can cause the brain to completely shut down, causing instant death

Rogues

“What greater pain is there than to know your whole life is based on a lie?”

  • Ruthless
  • Outspoken
  • Cold
  • Detached
  • Defiant

Background:

Barbara is one of the three triplet sisters separated at birth, and was given to different families in distant places. However, their “creator,” Jonas Zimmerman took Barbara and raised her as his own daughter. Barbara’s synthetic ability is not similar to her sisters’ abilities. Niki holds a physical power, Tracy holds an Elemental power, and Barbara possesses a mental ability. As a child, Barbara was experimented on just like Company agent Elle Bishop, to determine the full extent of her ability and suffered at Zimmerman’s hands. Her own ability backfired most of the time, but to prevent her from developing hard feelings towards the Company, they took extreme measures and used The Haitian to erase her dark memories to help her get through without the constant reminder of the Company’s schemes. Growing up within the Company herself, Barbara was trained to kill, haunt, fight and survive among other things, and her soul purpose was to help capture and lock away dangerous Post-Humans, terminate them if necessary. She had the pleasure of working with Noah Bennet, but was never told that she was one in a set of three triplet sisters. All of the lies and cover-ups helped contribute to why she had been with the Company for so many years and obeyed each one of their orders no questions asked. But soon, things changed.

When the Company officially had closed, Barbara was jobless. It wasn’t easy for her to get a job, so she had to rely on Zimmerman for awhile. After years had passed, the time for Zimmerman had come and when he passed, Barbara was left with nothing. Barbara’s soul was bitter and malicious, similar to Jessica’s, but rather than looking for protection, she looked for power and dominance. Barbara barely cared for her father’s death, showing a bit of sentiment, but it faded fast and she moved on seeking for a job she could be good at, but she didn’t find the job, the job found her. On a fateful night, she was approached by a mysterious woman who was one of the leaders of a very powerful organization. This woman was one of the four horsemen, the Rogues, and offered Barbara to join them as they plotted to rule the world. Jessica accepted, but thought really hard about it before she did, and now she currently works for the Rogues, completely different from her sister, Tracy Strauss who’s working for PROTECT as the nicer figure.

Significant Event in Life:

Barbara’s life has been a complete lie, from her birth; the lies Zimmerman told her, calling her his daughter, experimenting on her, ect. From the moment she started realizing that she was adopted, and just a toy to the Company, Barbara has developed a malicious attitude, but it wasn’t until the only man who even slightly cared for her was gone, and she knew she couldn’t bring him back no matter what she did. Her feelings towards him faded when she went through his files and figured out all of the testing done on her. Barbara became cold, ruthless, and spiteful. She hated the Company, and hated herself for letting them manipulate her. She would like nothing better for them to just die; better yet, by her own hand. She holds a grudge against the Company owners and everybody linked to them, specifically the head of PROTECT, Peter Petrelli.

Age: 35

Ability: Power Beam Emission (dormant)

  • The ability to discharge various forms of energy as projectile blasts
  • Limits: Firing may be an involuntary reaction, or may not released in constant stream. Users may be over-charged/wounded if too much energy is used at once.

“I am not a charity case. I earn everything I want.”

Background:

Woe was never part of Rebecca’s life. Unlike others like her, she never experienced any earth shattering tragedy to sway her one way or another. She grew up in the city with her parents and her grandparents.  Since Rebecca was an artistic person by nature, it made sense for her to pursue photography as her profession. Rebecca made a name for herself through her photos. She never got assigned the featured stories due to her lack of a cutthroat attitude all her other coworkers had. But Rebecca had luck on her side. It always seemed as though she was always in the right place at the right time.  Her most wel known photos were the ones from the solar eclipse of 2006, the great jump by Claire Bennet in 2010, the grand opening of PROTECT in 2012 and etc… Her life, although seemingly dull, was always connected to the post human world whether or not she realized it. It wasn’t until the black out in late 2012 that she found herself fully immersed in it with thanks to the Rogues.

Unbeknownst to the Rogues, Rebecca first agreed to join their ranks only to gather information on them to report back to the news station. The girl was cunning and did her best to act as a double agent after she infiltrated the group. If anybody was going to get the credit for turning over the women who reaped chaos on New York City, it was going to be her. As time went on, the Rogues became fugitives and Rebecca feared facing legal prosecution for being with them for so long even if she planned to double cross them. She soon realized that she had no choice other than to accept her role within the group.

The Horsemen told her that she would come to be powerful and be of great use to them, but the other members disapprove of her since she’s still technically “human” until her abilities manifest again. Despite the contempt she got from the others for being so favored by the top ranked members, she never stopped trying to prove her worth.  In her spare time around the hideout, she would ask people to train her so that she could protect herself. More than anything, she wants them to know that she could be of use even without her abilities kicking in.

Significant Event in Life:

In 2012, Rebecca’s newspaper company heard that there were strange occurrences happening city wide during the black out. She was the only one who had enough guts to volunteer to go out to see what was going on. She hoped that this could be a breakthrough for her career, but she soon learned that people were advised to stay indoors for a reason. The moment she set foot outside her car, a mob of people started trying to attack her.  These people seemed enraged and wild beyond belief. She ran from them for as long as she could before getting her foot caught in something and falling unconscious to the ground. When Pestilence found her waking up, there was a circle of dead bodies around her and there wasn’t a single scratch on her body.

Name: Tatiana Davis

Age: 25

Ability: Succubus Mimicry

  • The power to mimic the abilities of a succubus. This includes: minor Telepathy, Illusions, and Pheromone Manipulation; medium Shape Shifting (claw, fangs, wings, and tail); and Vitality Drain. Some also possess the ability of Touch Persuasion.
  • Limits: Most minor abilities are only effective at close range or are only accessible on a subconscious level: an example being one’s appearance and scent being automatically altered slightly to be more appealing to the target. Vitality Drain must have contact and can result in the death of the target if maintained for too long. Touch Persuasion’s effectiveness increases the longer contact is maintained, but deteriorates exponentially once contact is severed. Powerful Psychics or people with extraordinary will can resist some of these abilities.

“It’s not angels who take you to heaven.“

Background:

You can get far in life if you’ve got looks, brains, or confidence. Having all three is a deadly combination. But that’s exactly what Tatiana Ayers had almost from day one. If her parents had wanted, they could have made her a pageant queen or a child actress, but they were afraid such lifestyles would corrupt their little angel. Unfortunately for them, Tatiana was no angel. She could have gone on to be whatever she wanted after high school, but instead she became an exotic dancer. Love was never something that figured into Tatiana’s motivations. Sex and lust though, now those were tools she knew how to exploit. Once she discovered her ability, all the lessons she’d learned up to that point suddenly became so much more potent. Tatiana never was afraid to use her ability to its fullest. The best example of this being when she seduced a rich man into marrying her, inheriting all his money at his death less than a year later. And what did she do after she had inherited all that money? She made herself disappear, cutting off all contact with everyone she knew.

Jump forward a few years later, and Tatiana is a high-class call girl in New York. Why do this when she was already wealthy enough in her own rights? Because she thought the job was fun. She got to meet powerful people, go to fancy parties, and in the night she got to do whatever she wanted to them. More often than not, this involved gathering information or pictures that she holds onto in case she ever needs favors from them at a later time. Most of them don’t know she does this of course, and her reputation has garnered her more and more clients, each wealthier and more powerful than the last. The Rogues don’t play much in politics at the moment, but Tatiana is ready to use her information and skills to assist them if they ever do. In the meantime though, she’s just happy to have fun gathering information they need now in the way she knows best.

Significant Event in Life:

At nineteen years old, Tatiana married a man almost three times her age. No one questioned the motives for the marriage, she was a pretty young girl and he was rich. What no one understood though was how Tatiana had managed to get him to marry her without her signing a prenup. She did though, and they were married for almost a year. The prenup ended up being pointless however; he didn’t live long enough to divorce her. About a week before their anniversary, Tatiana walked in on her husband with another woman. Though she would never admit it to anyone, seeing that hurt. Maybe her pride more than her heart, but pain was pain. That night, she kissed him and used part of her ability she’d never tried before. She didn’t break the kiss until his body was cold. The family suspected foul play, but no toxins or proof to substantiate such suspicions could be found. His death was ruled as a heart attack, and Tatiana inherited his life insurance along with a good portion of his assets. She figured it was the least she deserved.

Age: 25

Ability: Power Negation

  • The ability to nullify the supernatural powers of others.
  • Limits: Negation effects are temporary

Neutral

  • Cautious
  • Determined
  • Introverted
  • Obsessive
  • Self-effacing

Background:

Olivia doesn’t know how old she is, or where she used to live, or even what her name used to be. All she remembers is waking up, covered in burns and cuts and scars that made her scream with pain with every move she made. Pain that, previously, been dulled by the drugs she gave her, but someone seemed to have missed a dose and everything was coming back tenfold. Olivia hadn’t known what was going on, or how she’d gotten to be where she was, but the restraints on her wrists were gone, and the door to her cell was open, and it didn’t take a genius to guess what she did next. She ran. She ran so far, and so fast, she couldn’t even remember how exactly she escaped, coming back to herself, miles away, covered in even more cuts from her escape, in a dirty alley, shivering and cold, and terrified.

She woke up, she didn’t know how much later, to the warmth of a bed, and comfort of a ceiling that wasn’t glaring and clinically bright, and a pair of stern but comforting eyes. The man, who’d rescued her, asked her who she was, and how she’d come to be in the alley, but Olivia hadn’t been able to answer. All she’d been able to do was shake her head, and gasp out tears as she curled in on herself. The man didn’t say much after that, simply pushed the hair from her face, and gave her the approximation of a smile as he tucked her back into bed.

It had been a few years since that night, the night that Callum Price had essentially saved her life, and Olivia had grown since then. Callum had given her a name, and a home, and a reason to get up in the morning, helping him with his bar, as well as the small band of refugees he seemed to continue to accumulate. She was essentially his ‘right hand man’ helping him run the bar, as well as keep the refugees safe from prying eyes, expanding his contacts through the underground and helping as many people as she could keep from being in the same situation she had been.

Significant Event in Life:

After a year of living with Callum, slowly moving out of her shell, and gaining confidence, he gave her the option of moving on with her life, or staying. Olivia had been devastated, she hadn’t shown it, though, kept it deep down, but the hurt was still there. She’d gotten so attached to the other man, that she couldn’t understand why he would ever think that she would want to leave. Olivia had been terrified of losing the only stable thing she could ever remember having in her life, but she knew then and there she had to decide what she wanted to do with her life. And she chose him.

Name: Mila Adams

Age: 30

Ability: Lie Detection

  • The ability to detect when a person is telling a lie.
  • Limitations: Will only detect if someone actually believes its a lie.

Nexus

  • Street smart
  • Tough
  • Sarcastic
  • Composed
  • Blunt

“You’d be surprised how many honest men actually lie to your face everyday.”

Background:

Mila grew up in Brooklyn, New York, raised by her aunt and uncle after her parents were gunned down in their own apartment when she was only three. Mila had always been good at telling who was lying to her. It was like a sixth sense, some would say. A super power. She was thirteen when she realized how true it actually was after she asked her aunt about her parents death, only to be lied too. Eventually she got the truth and realized that it wasn’t just a sixth sense. She had an ability. Her uncle was a police officer, working the mean streets of New York city with a lot of respect and experience on his back. As much as he tried to encourage Mila to do what was right, it didn’t stop her from going down a very dark path. Like any kid growing up in an environment like Brooklyn, Mila was pulled into a bad crowd. Skipping school, shop lifting, selling drugs. You name it, she did it. She never touched the stuff, however, she saw what it did to people and she didn’t want that for herself. She just wanted to do whatever she wanted and live as a free spirit.

Her “free” lifestyle didn’t last long, however. She was out with friends one night, driving around, causing trouble wherever they went, when the unthinkable happened. She and one of her friends had decided to shoplift at a liquor store when the owner pulled a gun on them both. Her friend pulled out a gun also, and at first sight of it, the store owner shot the girl dead while Mila watched. In a panic, Mila grabbed the gun and fired on the store owner, killing him instantly. Mila was on a one way trip to a juvenile detention center. However, right before she was transported to the detention center, all charges were suddenly dropped and her bail was paid by a mysterious benefactor. The only explanation she received was a single note that read “You owe us. Stay out of trouble. -N”. She went back home only to find that her aunt and uncle’s memories had been wiped of the entire incident. They just believed that her poor little friend got killed.

From then on, Mila straightened out. She started going to school, bringing up her grades, and even joined the police force when the time came, just like her uncle. She was only a year into the force when she got a call from none other than Jonathan Dexter with a proposition she couldn’t refuse. Work for Nexus Enterprises or suddenly have the entire miracle of her release undone and be sent to jail. It wasn’t hard to make a decision. She’s still a detective for the NYCPD, but she spends her nights and days off paying her debt to Nexus. They wanted to use her ability for their benefit and she would let them, as long as it kept her out of trouble and free. She hates working for Nexus, because she’s a post-human, but seeing as she has no choice, she grits her teeth and holds her tongue for fear of what Nexus might do.

Significant Event in Life:

Everyday, Mila wishes she had never left the house on the night of the liquor store shooting. She regrets even seeing it. That night she had had a fight with her aunt and uncle about her behavior and stormed out before anyone could chase her. She and some friends had decided it was a good idea to get a couple bottles of alcohol and get drunk for the night, and being who she was then, she went along with it. But while they were stealing it, the owner pulled a shotgun out on them. Her friend, a girl named Kayla who was younger than Mila at the time, pulled out a gun, but before she could pull the trigger, the owner pulled his. Mila watched her die on the floor of that liquor store. Thinking she was next, she grabbed the gun and shot the shocked store owner, fearing for her own life. That night, Mila lost a friend and took a life and she had regretted it ever since. She still has nightmares of the incident and wishes with every fiber of her being that she could go back and change it.

Ability: Possession

“Think of me as visionary of monumental proportions.”

  •  Ambitious
  •  Manipulative
  •  Secretive
  •  Protective
  •  Confident

 Background:

Melissa Dennison was born in a small town in the middle of Ohio. Not much to say or tell about it, in her opinion, not much she would want to remember. Her father was a strict religious man while her mother doted on him hand and foot. Most hated her father’s rules and his controlling nature. She and her parents never had a good relationship especially with her mother. She wanted nothing more than to be absolutely different from her mother. She looked at the woman as weak and weak was one trait that she never wanted to have. She didn’t want to just have kids and get married for the sake of it. She wanted to do something bigger than herself. Whether it was for selfish reasons or not. Melissa always had clear and strenuous ambitions for her life. She wanted to get out of the small town she felt caged in and make something of herself. A doctor, lawyers, actor, anything to get her out of her small town life. The first thing she did when she was able to move out of your parents home was move straight to New York City. It was there that Melissa began to attend Columbia College as a political science major.

During her junior year while she was attending Columbia as an undergrad Melissa met Danny Denison. It didn’t take her long to fall in love with the young Danny, charming, well spoken, with the same goals as her in life. They were married soon as she graduated and settled in their own apartment in the middle of the city. Not long after Melissa became pregnant with their first son Michael while Danny focused on his political career. They lived in squalor and poverty for years while Danny built up their career but eventually it all paid off. Danny was offered a job at the DA’s office and eventually went on to become mayor of New York City, a position that would stay within the family for another generation. Melissa was proud of her family’s power within the city. However her husband’s feelings would prove to be a problem for them. Corruption seemed to be a family business among them and Melissa was easily tempted with the power it brought.

While she and her husband had shared the power they had both worked hard to obtain, there was always one secret that Melissa kept from him. A secret that she would keep from everyone. Melissa  was a post-human with the ability to possess the minds of other and influence them to do what she wanted, if they were weak enough. She hid the ability from her religious, intolerant father and now, from her post-human hating husband. It wasn’t until her sons became involved with the family business of dealing with criminals and playing dirty to raise their social status that she finally had to use her ability. Getting her sons and husband out of trouble was usually the job for her, and she did it well. Today she finds herself questioning her husbands beliefs against post-humans and is worried that their lifestyle will soon catch up to them. None the less, she is hell bent on keeping up her current lifestyle and will fight for her family’s safety if its the last thing she does.

Significant Event in Life:

Melissa was sixteen when she first gained her ability. Like any post-human who was born of intolerant and misunderstanding parents, she was scared to death to tell anyone, but very curious about her ability. The first person she ever possessed was her own father. He was arguing with her about her grades, which had began to fall, and he had threatened to send her off to boarding school. He grabbed her arm, she grabbed his and the next thing she knew, she was in her father’s own body. It took her an hour to figure out how to get out, and afterwards, her father suddenly has a change of heart about boarding school. It was then that Melissa realized the influence she held in her hands, as well as the power.

Name: Brie Kelley

Age: 20

Ability: Force Fields

  • Argumentative
  • Sarcastic
  • Loyal
  • Determined
  • Impulsive

Background:

Brie Kelley was a rebellious girl for as long as she could remember. She hated romance novels, birthday parties, and any hue of pink. It was her way to shake up the dull life she was stuck in. Brie was the type of girl who liked to think of herself as a lone wolf so she goes out of her way to maintain some solitude. At school, she was usually found behind a novel, usually a different one every other day. People usually kept their distance from her in order to avoid being snarked at. There were only four people who were able to escape her smart remarks and attitude, her parents, Elyssa, her little sister, and Danny, her neighbor from across the street. They were the only ones who she didn’t completely mind being around for long periods of time. Brie was extremely overprotective of the few people she was close to. Although she occasionally acted like looking over them was such a burden, protecting her loved ones was the only thing she felt she was good at.

Brie’s life changed after a hurricane had hit her small town. There had been reports of an oncoming hurricane and her parents, as well as Danny’s parents, rushed to the stores to fill up on supplies. The storm was predicted to hit within the next few days, so they thought they would be safe until then. But then the winds starting picking up while Brie and Elyssa were playing in Danny’s backyard while their parents were gone. When a tree from the next door house fell over, Brie pulled her sister towards her and held her close to shield her from the roaring winds. Danny immediately took the two girls to his basement to hide from the storm that was about to roll in. From there, the three of them huddled in a corner as they heard the damage caused by the hurricane as it passed through. Their area flooded up quickly and the kids fell victim to it. The three were able to stay afloat for a few days before tragedy struck and Brie lost her sister.

It was during that time that Danny’s powers manifested. If it wasn’t for him, the two would have drowned after the last bit of their energies gave out. Once on dry land, Brie looked for her parents by day and grieved the lost of Elyssa by night. After spending two weeks trying to locate their parents with no results, the two decided to get far away from the town that was now mostly buried under water. They were two kids with no home, no money, and no family. Cheating, stealing, and lying were the only ways they could survive. After losing almost everybody she trusted, Brie swore to herself to protect Danny no matter what. She knew the two of them couldn’t last much longer with their lifestyle with the police constantly on their tails and so she immediately jumped onboard once the Rogue recruiters found her.

Significant event in life:

Water started rushing in once the raging surges from the flood outside the basement where Brie, her sister, and Danny were hiding in propelled some objects against the glass window. The two older teens knew they had to escape the basement before it filled up and drowned them all. The only option left was to open the door then swim their way to the top. When Danny pulled the door back, Brie saw the wall of water rushing towards them in slow motion. She panicked and held onto both Danny and Elyssa tightly then screamed. She waited for the water to hit her, but it never did. She opened her eyes and saw that the three of them were underwater, but the strange thing was that there was a bubble-like force surrounding them.

FC: Taissa Farmiga

Name: Theresa Lessing

  • Limits: User must have skin-to-skin contact to affect anyone.

Neutral

“I’m not dangerous! Please believe me!”

  • Withdrawn
  • Quiet
  • Sarcastic
  • Trustworthy
  • Hopeful

Background:

Theresa was raised in a privileged household. Her father was one of the most prestigious lawyers in New York City and her mother’s occupation was never spoken of. She remembered the woman would go away for days at a time and come back limping, or with her arm in a cast. She often questioned her father on the matter, but he never chose to discuss it. Therese truly believed that he had not a clue either. Her mother was very secretive but she knew that she loved her very much. Theresa never had to want for anything and she was always treated with the best of everything. Toys, clothes, education, you name it. However, she was never over spoiled. Her father always pushed her in everything she did, be it in school or in sports. To say Theresa had a relatively perfect childhood would not be an understatement in her mind, for she had her family and friends and that is all she needed.

Theresa was sixteen when she got her first boyfriend, Adam. To any girl that age, her relationship seemed like one straight out of a fairytale. He was the captain of the football team, gorgeous, smart, everything she could have possibly wanted, and he made her laugh. However, her father disapproved of their relationship. He felt that the boy was distracting her from her studies and forbid them from dating, but of course she was in love and her father’s words did not stop her. After an intense argument with her father about Adam, she ran off and went to visit him. Since her father would not let them be together, they made a plan to run away and start anew somewhere else. However, as they kissed, confirming their plans, something unexpected happened. Adam froze, his eyes turning a deep black before he collapsed, his veins pressing against his skin, except… they were black. Theresa did not know what to do when Adam’s mother found the two of them in his room, her son on the floor. However, when Adam’s mother grabbed her arm to try to calm her down, her eyes too went black and she began coughing violently. It was then Theresa realized that it was she who had caused Adam’s death.

Theresa grew depressed after Adam’s death. She believed that it was her fault; that she did not deserve to live while Adam had died at her hand. She withdrew from everyone, including her parents who desperately tried to reach out to her. Every day she went to school, she was subject to the whispers and rumors surrounding her boyfriend’s death and his mother’s poisoning. She was responsible. She took to wearing gloves and quit every club and sport that required any physical contact, which was mostly everything she did. High school could not have ended faster for her. While there were people with abilities that revealed with Claire Bennet’s revelation, she was not ready too. She always kept it a secret, even from her parents. However, she soon figured out that her mother, as secretive as she was, was a Nexus agent after she was assigned to bring her in. For this reason, she disappeared, to keep her mother out of trouble and too keep herself out of jail.

Significant Event Life:

Theresa has always had trouble with her ability. Never being able to touch the people, she loves it one of them. The day her ability manifested, she had been in a fight with her father about Adam and she felt as if she had pushed to her limits. She likes to think she has blocked most of that memory out of her head, but she cannot help but think about the look on Adam’s face the last time she kissed him and the way that the blackness of the poison from her body took over his eyes and infected his veins. They had said that he died of blood poisoning, but she knew better than to accept that diagnosis. From that day on, she always wore gloves, and never took them off in the presence of others, for fear of what she could do. For fear that she would kill someone again.

“There is something severely wrong with this world, if someone can think that they don’t deserve to live because of something as simple and out of their control as how their genes combined in the womb.”

  • Intelligent
  • Superior
  • Poised
  • Opinionated
  • Outspoken

Background:

Marian’s parents were both highly educated doctors, her mother (Sara) working in neurosurgery while her father (Marco) worked in pediatrics, in their home city of Chicago. Needless to say they were both pretty busy people, but they made certain to make time for her as much as possible as soon as she was born. They doted on her, they loved her. Her mother always wore gloves, even when outside of the hospital. It wasn’t until Marian was in her late teens that she discovered why. Her mother, it turned out, was a bit different from most of the population. She had the ability to see a person’s entire past through something as simple as skin on skin contact. What she didn’t discover until even a year or two after that, was that her mother suffered from crippling bouts of depression, and had even attempted suicide before Marian was born. She couldn’t stand this feeling like she was different from everyone, like she didn’t deserve to have these powers, like she didn’t deserve to exist. And Marian hated seeing her mother like that.

Upon graduation from high school, Marian immediately launched into a college career researching biology, medicine, genetics. Anything to better understand what it was that was happening inside of humans, and particularly post-humans. It was a fascination, but it was also the only thing that she could think of to help her mother. If she could even prove to the community that other than these few differences, post-humans were the same… Were made out of the same ingredients… She almost gave up a few times, but luckily her father was there every step of the way, to counterbalance the idea that her mother’s ability was something hateful, and to impress upon the young woman the idea that humans were humans, it didn’t matter how they looked or what culture they came from or what they had the natural ability to do.

After college, Marian threw herself into further research and a full time job at a local hospital. With the spreading news of post-humans and groups and new laws, she thought that things would get better for her mom, but they only got worse. Marian tried to compensate by being more outspoken in her community, and finding ways to support post-humans. And eventually, finally, in 2014, she found her way to PROTECT.

Significant Event in Life:

On the day that the news announced the new laws regarding the flash tattoos, Marian was at a brunch with her parents, so she got to watch the almost slow motion play by play of crushing emotions across her mother’s face. A few days later, after her mother had gotten the procedure, and Marian and her father had gotten a tattoo in the exact same spot, in support of Sara, saying “we’re all human”, Marian decided to make her way to the source of the tattoos and have a few choice words with them. It turned out that there were multiple sources, and most of them primarily inaccessible. Which was how she ended up in the office of Peter Petrelli, the one she was most furious with because his company had pledged to protect the post-humans and now they were endorsing things like the tattoos. Of course, Peter had heard this argument enough times, and was more than prepared and frustrated enough to take Marian down a few notches and talk her over to their side. She ended up with a great deal of respect for the man, and when he offered her a job she said yes without a second’s hesitation.

Background:

Eve has never had to take care of anyone but herself. Since before she can remember, she’s been pushed from one foster home to another, no real family or home to call her own. Troubled is an understatement of what this young woman is. Even when she was younger, social workers and foster parents would note how quiet and withdrawn she seemed to be. She didn’t play with other children well and no adult seemed to get through to her. However, she was an exceptionally wonderful student. From the time she entered school to the day she graduated, teachers would brag about what a intellectual mind she seemed to have. But Eve was the kind of girl to drift by everyone unseen. Almost as if it were a choice.

When she graduated, Eve seemed to go off the radar. Her foster parents didn’t know where she went, nor did the few friends she had. Truth be told, Eve moved to New York City and became the most notorious thief in the city. Why? Because she could slip in and out of banks, houses, even safes without detection. The girl who always seemed invisible was literally that. Detectives and police departments assigned to her case called her “Ghost” as they could never place a face to the crimes committed. Eve indulged in the riches she stole. Stealing was an art to her. An art she had long perfected with much experience. It was for that reason she gained the attention of two different groups, Nexus and the Rogues.

Eve always thought that she was untouchable, that no one would ever be able to place her to her crimes, but she was soon proved wrong. Right as she was pulling a job on a high profile bank, she was knocked out and taken to Nexus Enterprises against her will. She was given two options, work for them or pay the price. Eve, being as stubborn as she was, refused to work for a group she had heard hated people like her. She had never been one to fight for anyone but herself, but she knew bad when she seen them, and Nexus was a lot of trouble. She was kept in a prison for months, waiting for her perfect oppurtunity escape, but the waiting wasn’t easy. They tested her ability in cruel ways, turned her into a guinea pig for whatever experiment they were conducting, until the day of the blackout when the power went out and Eve slipped out of her cage during the commotion. Weak from imprisonment, she couldn’t go back to her apartment, which had been seized by police long ago. Her only retribution was an offer a mysterious woman had to join a force against Nexus and against the humans that had treated her so cruelly. And just like that, Eve became a Rogue, a group she came to find she well into. She’s angry and ready for a vengeance, ready to do whatever it takes to see that the Rogue’s goals are fulfilled.

Significant Event in Life:

If you were to ask Eve about the day she got her abilities, she would probably laugh about it. It was as she was sitting down to dinner with her newest foster parents that her ability was triggered. They were talking to her about college and what she planned on doing with her life and the stress of the situation made her want to disappear. So she did, right in front of their eyes. At first she was scared, as they stared at her as if she had grown two heads and they kept claiming they couldn’t see her. Her foster mother even ran out of the room screaming while her foster father fainted. She reappeared as they did, finding the entire situation much more hilarious than it actually was. She lied, telling them it was a magic trick that she learned, and slowly learned to control her ability. From their, her entire was laid out in front of her like a board game for her to play on.

Background:

Demetria grew up to an impoverished family in the city of Omsk, Russia. She was the only daughter to a fisherman and a seamstress under four brothers. Though she didn’t always have the best upbringing, she loved her family. Her mother and father only tried to provide the best for she and her brothers. She was the baby of the family. Her brothers always looked out for her, her oldest brother Michael being her favorite. On the nights when her father had to leave to provide for the family, he’d be the one to take control as the man of the house. He’d be the one to tuck her in at night, tell her stories, shield her from the harsh realities of life. Especially when finances came down like acid rain on the family. As much as everyone tried to shield it from her, she saw what it was doing to her family. Eventually, it would come down harder than it ever would.

Demetria was twelve on the wintery night that the men invaded her home. Her father had borrowed money from very powerful men and they wanted payback. When he couldn’t pay them back in time, they came after his family. Demetria was snatched from her bed in the middle of the night. They came in and grabbed her, threatening to kill her if she made a sound. That night would mark the last time she would ever see her family again. She was taken into a sex slave trade, given to men for a price and held in prison the days she wasn’t. She struggled to survive, trying to keep hope that maybe she would get free, and maybe she’d make it out of this alive. She was imprisoned for four years until she finally had enough. One night, when they placed her in a room with a customer, she pushed him away. She fought against him and suddenly with one push, he was sent through a wall. It was the first time Demetria had discovered her ability and she used it to escape and never look back again. She found that she had been taken to America of all places, and she decided to settle there, not able to face her family after all that she had been put through.  Broke, down on her luck, and homeless, Demetria was found by the Rogues. They took her in, sheltered her, and gave her a chance to learn to fight for herself. Now, she lives in New York with the Rogues, aiding in the fight with her ability as much as she can.

Significant Event in Life:

Demetria got her first apartment when she was 18 years old. It was the first time in years that she had ever had a place to herself and the first time since she was taken into the slave trade that she felt completely free. The Rogues had sheltered her since the day she had been freed from the trade and she couldn’t have been happier. But it was the day she received her first apartment that she called her mother. She dialed the number and hoped that it hadn’t changed over the years. When her mother picked up, tears welled in her eyes. It had been the first time she had heard her mothers voice in almost six years. But flashes of what she had been through, what those men had done to her flashed before her eyes and she couldn’t dare utter a word. So, she hung up without saying anything, letting her mothers voice be enough for the time being.

Name: Maia Grier

Age: 26

Ability: Eidetic Memory

  • The ability to quickly absorb and accurately retain great amounts of information.
  • Limits: A person with this power usually remembers everything. Even things they wish they could forget, and even things that are utterly useless to them.

Rogue

  • Brainy
  • Diligent
  • Mistrusting
  • Realistic
  • Tenacious

Background:

Maia was born in a small, rural town in Scotland by the name of Buckhaven to Mr. and Mrs. Aiden Grier. She lived a rather normal life, though being a woman—and an intelligent woman at that—came with some difficulties. Women were not treated as equals in the society she lived in; they were regarded as wives, mothers, daughters, and sisters, but not adequate enough ot be seen as partners in science, medicine, technology, or intelligence. And, sadly, most of the women in the society accepted that as law, and never challenged, mostly because they were too afraid of the backlash they would receive at home with their extremely anti-feminist husbands and sons.

Her Eidetic Memory came to fruition when she was a younger child, maybe seven or eight. Maia used this power to retain all sorts of information, though her favorite subject to gain more knowledge about was technology. She could not get enough of how every cog worked together to make a car, or how much fine machinery was constructed to regulate the ferocity of a nuclear bomb. Everything mechanical fascinated her, and if it had gone her way she would have loved to be an advanced technician for a secret organization like the MI-5, or even the CIA. But, when she was sixteen her parents forced her to drop school as her two other brothers, Cailean and Ewan had, though instead of going into the workforce as she would have preferred, she was place immediately in the marriage track. In months her parents found her a suitor, a rather aged man named Firth Dunlop. They were married when Maia was sixteen and Firth was fourty-one. Firth took his young bride to his small castle twenty miles outside the town she grew up in, and kept her secluded from the world.

She lived like this for two years, growing increasingly angry and resentful of the man who she called her husband. The Dunlop castle had a vast library, however, and Maia was determined to use it to her advantage. She came upon a poisons book, and after burning the book to destroy all evidence of it’s nature, brewed a poison to kill her husband. She slipped it into his drink one night, and he died in less than an hour. Maia retained most of her husband’s money, and gleefully she made haste to leave the country as soon as she could. As she was buying her tickets to New York City, she remembered one of her brothers, Cailean, and how he had often wished to see the world just as she had. He was the only member of her family she really cared for, as he was her only brother who had pleaded her cause to her parents to let her stay in school and out of the marriage market. Ewan didn’t care about her; he would rather let her rot in Dunlop Castle than let her do what she willed to do. Hitchhiking back to her small town of Buckhaven, she convinced Cailean to leave behind their parents and his life and come with her to New York. They boarded the next flight and never came back.

The siblings bought a small apartment for themselves in Queens, and Cailean got a job as a junkyard assistant for a garbage facility a mile or so from their establishment. Maia got a job as a waitress part time, though most of her efforts were devoted to her technology. With the remaining money from Firth she bought every single piece of machinery her heart desired, filling up her rather large basement quickly. Years past, and she became more and more adept at the technology she called “Artair”, the Gaelic word for bear. When she heard that the Four Horsemen were up for recruits, she immediately jumped at the chance, knowing that only the best of hacks could get her into their organization. Using Artair she tracked down each of their cellphones and hacked into their databases, programming messages and locations of anti-post human bases to use for their benefit. At the end of a long one week message session, she called them all to her basement and introduced herself in person. She had been going by the moniker Ghost before their face-to-face meeting. The Horsemen, impressed by her skill and guts, immediately accepted her onto their team.

Significant Event in Life:

The murder of her husband was a particularly significant event for Maia. She was eighteen years old, and she had never even thought of killing anyone before this. When they dined the night she slipped the poison into Firth’s drink, her hands couldn’t stop shaking. She was so absolutely nervous and scared, but after the deed had been done, she felt refreshed. She justified the murder as a sacrifice for her own freedom and sucess, understanding that killings like these would have to happen if she wanted to become the best in the business. After that day she became hardened to the troubles of life and death, finding them rather insignificant. Life was so fluid, and could be taken away so easily, as she had done, so why worry?

“I’m deaf.  I can’t hear the call.”

  • Insecure
  • Observant
  • Introverted
  • Intelligent
  • Sensitive

Background:

Emma is one of two siblings.  Their mother, Dr. Coolidge, is a doctor at Mercy Hospital.  Emma and her sibling were never particularly close, as brothers and sisters go.  Emma found that she always relied on herself to get on through.  This early-developed sense of independence set the tone for most of her life.  She worked hard in school, and didn’t make time for much else in her life.  Like her mother, Emma aspired to get her PhD to be a practicing physician in a hospital.  Things completely changed for her, however, when her nephew Christopher drowned under Emma’s care.  She dropped out of medical school, and took up a job working as a file clerk in Mercy Hospital-the same place her mother works.

Things began to shift in her life once again when her ability manifested.  It started small-a strange twinkling from a faucet while the water dripped out of it.  Soon after, she met Peter Petrelli, and things only escalated from there.  She dropped a mug, and saw flashes of red light when the mug broke on the ground.  Emma got herself checked out, telling the doctor that she’d been seeing lights.  The doctor speculates that her condition is synesthesia, a crossing over of senses.  But, as Emma gets to know Peter more, she learns that it is far beyond a neurological disorder.  Around this time, Samuel Sullivan answers Emma’s siren song, and draws her towards the carnival by giving her the gift of a cello.  She gets involved in the carnival, and is eventually forced to play her cello to draw people in with Samuel’s plans to level New York City.  Sylar saved her from Eric Doyle, who was controlling her movements.  And when Claire Bennet revealed her ability to the world, things completely changed.  She once again applied for medical school, thinking that things could only improve.  But again, she was denied.  Now, she works with PROTECT, usually only communicating with Peter, to help make the world a bit more sensitive to posthumans.

Significant Event in Life:

When Emma was still in medical school, and in her second year of residency, she had taken to regularly babysitting her nephew, Christopher.  It was a steady gig that helped, a little, with the high expenses that came with being in medical school.  One evening, however, her nephew had been taking a bath.  Unable to hear him in the next room due to her handicap, she didn’t hear the splashing or the small number of shouts that came from Christopher as he drowned in the tub.  When she went in to check on him, Emma completely panicked.  She tried to revive him for a good ten minutes before finally giving up.  He was gone, and it was all her fault.  She dropped out of medical school almost immediately after, unable to even look at herself in the mirror due to the guilt weighing heavily on her mind.

Name: Erica Jackson (aka Pestilence)

Age: 28

Ability: Disease manipulation

  • The ability to control any germ, bacteria, or virus on a cellular level and invoke/control pests, locusts that spoil crops, and flies that carry disease
  • Limits: Users may not be immune to their own diseases. Those with Healing, Rapid Cellular Regeneration, and Invulnerability may be immune to the user’s diseases, and maybe even provide a cure.

“Disease is God’s sympathy for those who are inferior and weak.”

  • Eloquent
  • Bold
  • Intuitive
  • Stubborn
  • Charismatic

Background:

Erica has come a long way from the shadows of her childhood.  Orphaned at a young age, she grew up drifting between a few foster homes.  She was someone who seemed to slip through the fingers of the system rather easily.  It wasn’t a detriment to her, however.  She was self-reliant, strong, and very good at reading the people around her.  Being able to do so gave her a strong sense of confidence and purpose.  It didn’t matter that she was left rather alone. The time by herself helped create a barrier that shielded her from the world, and shielded her from emotions-they couldn’t do much but get in the way.  They could be addressed once in a while, in private. But overall, Erica left emotions behind to focus more on the bigger picture.

When her ability manifested, pieces seemed to fall in place in Erica’s head.  Having such an ability, a gift from God himself, was merely the next step in human evolution.  This belief was one she took to heart.  No one was around to tell her otherwise. This belief carried over even to when she was captured by the Company. She was dubbed a threat due to the potential of being used for bioterrorism if she ever got into the wrong hands. She was poked and prodded at hours upon hours. Her days of being alone in the Company brought memories from when she was at the orphanage. She became reclusive and withdrawn for a period of time.

It wasn’t until she was approached by two other girls in the Company’s courtyard that she began to open up again. When Persephone (Death) joined in, she pushed Erica to break out of the shell that the Company built up for her. Erica slowly became the charismatic one within her little group. She was the one who was able to talk her way around everything. But the charms weren’t just for show.  She got the guards to give the girls extra food and convince the other inmates to do their biddings for them. She sees the Four Horsemen as her family. It was the closest thing she has to one and she would do anything to keep them safe. She gives her all into every little mission she’s given and hopes to regain justice for those with special abilities who have been oppressed just because they’re misunderstood.

Significant Event in Life:

The first attempt to capture Erica by the Company was a fail. The two agents sent after her were newly inducted. The Company figured capturing a young teenaged girl would be simple enough for them to handle, and so the two of them followed the girl as she was on her way home from school. Being as inexperienced as they were, Erica noticed them from a distance but tried to keep calm hoping she was just paranoid. But once they got closer in on her, her ability kicked due to the adrenaline that rushed through her. She was able to call forth a swarm of flies to attack those anywhere in the vicinity.  They were dead within minutes-due to the flies gnawing at them, and passing on disease that they carried. A few innocent bystanders were victims of this attack as well, but Erica got out of there as quickly as she could, unsure of what exactly happened.

Name: Angela Petrelli (nee Shaw)

Age: 66

Ability: Precognitive Dream

  • Has the ability to see the future while dreaming. Can also manipulate the dreams of others
  • Limits: Must fall asleep naturally without the use of sleep aids or drugs.

PROTECT

“They’re right to be afraid of us. The things we can do, the things we’re going to do to keep this secret safe… It’s a necessary evil.”

  • Cold
  • Intelligent
  • Protective
  • Guarded

Background:

Angela Petrelli was born Angela Shaw in 1945 to two parents that both possessed abilities. She and her sister, Alice, both carried the gene and both manifested their abilities at very young ages. She and her sister were very close during their childhood, Angela always feeling the need to protect her sister whenever necessary. They remained so up until Angela was 16 years old. She and her family traveled to Coyote Sands, Arizona to live in an internment camp where Chandra Suresh, along with other scientists, were conducting experiments on those with abilities. Angela wanted nothing more than to make her “nightmares” go away, nightmares that seemed to always come true. It was in this encampment that she met the future founders of the Company, Charles Deveaux, Daniel Linderman, and Bobby Bishop. After having many nightmares depicting the residents of Coyote Falls being killed, she became very untrustworthy of Dr. Suresh and made a plan with the three boys to escape. However their freedom was cut short as Alice lost control of her ability, causing a series of events that cause the residents of Coyote Sands to be killed by the guards there. It is this event that sparked the beginning of what Angela dreamed. The Company.

Angela met Arthur Petrelli shortly after and married him at the age of 20. They had two children, Nathan, whom Angela raised alone while Arthur served in the Vietnam war, and Peter. Plans for the Company began to form. The founders built their own revenues and empires and began funding for their organization. When Arthur returned from war, along with  Bobby Bishop, Charles Deveaux, Daniel Linderman, and others, Angela founded The Company, an organization hell bent on protecting the secret of post-humans by any means necessary. Killing people, hunting down dangerous post-humans, they did whatever they needed to make sure what happened at Coyote Sands never happened again. No matter how evil their actions were, Angela always maintained the belief she was fighting for the greater good. For years she led a double life as a Company agent and the privileged wife of Arthur Petrelli, but no one ever saw the true darkness that Angela held. She and her husband’s marriage struggled for years as their deceptive ways got the best of them. Angela began affairs, including one with Kaito Nakamura and her agendas became increasingly more vicious, but she always kept it secret. It wasn’t until her husbands faked suicide did the true nature of Angela Petrelli became revealed. She maintained a close relationship with the founders of the Company for years until their deaths and the events that led to the almost detonation of New York City. She has always supported her sons in whatever endeavors they delved into, especially Nathan and his journey towards presidency. She has a deep love for her sons and will do anything for them, even corrupt a serial killer to believe he is her son. She will go to extremes to protect her sons. After finding, and losing, her sister in Coyote Sands, she, along with Nathan, Peter, and Claire, talked of plans to revive the Company with the same agenda, different tactics. But with the post-human revelation, the ideas have changed. She plans to use her old contacts, along with her past relationship with Jonathan Dexter, to help the Rebel’s and her son, Peter. She is still just as secretive as she was in the beginning, but many of her motives have changed. She wants to be closer to some of the only family she has left, that being Peter and her grandchildren, Simon, Monty and Claire. She will do anything to protect her family and help PROTECT, even it means stooping to old ways.

Significant Event in Life:

In 1961, Angela and her family traveled to Coyote Sands to be a part of a series of experiences conducted with Chandra Suresh. Angela, believing they would rid her of her ability to see the future, was more than happy to go through these experiments, unlike her sister. But after horrifying visions of a massacre, she became untrustworthy of Dr. Suresh and escaped with Bobby Bishop, Charles Deveaux, and Daniel Linderman. Though, only hours into their freedom, news of a sandstorm appeared on the television of the café they were in. Angela, remembering her vision, demanded they go back to Coyote Sands to help the residents and her sister, whom she believed to be behind the sandstorm. However they were too late, and they returned to find their family and friends massacred. This event sparked the birth of what would be known as the Company, an organization Angela foresaw in her enhanced dreams.
