Background:

Jeremiah Hart started life as the only son of two very rich, business-minded individuals living in the city of New York. His mother, a high-powered lawyer. His father, a name partner in the same business. Needless to say, his family was well off in the money department. It can be said that from birth, Jeremiah wanted for nothing material. However, he could have done with a little bit of attention from the people supposedly raising him, seeing as how they were never around. From a young age, Jeremiah swore that he would be nothing like his parents when he grew up. He would be warm, and friendly, and always around for those that were close to him.

In high school (best private school in the state, thank you), he started going down some rough roads, didn’t always hang out with the best people. But still, he excelled in all of his classes. His grades didn’t slip, and so his parents didn’t know anything was wrong. He started hanging out with more of the wrong people. He would get called a brainiac by his parents friends at the parties they sometimes dragged him to, and he would smile politely, and then later that night he would go out and get drunk with a group of teenagers that didn’t always even remember his name.

When he graduated high school, his parents kicked him out of the house. It turned out that the previous week they had discovered part of his stash, but wanted to wait until he graduated to deliver the news of how disappointed they were. And ashamed. They sent him out into the world with some money and instructions to go make something of himself, so that’s what he did. It was apparently the wake-up call he needed. Jeremiah stopped drinking, went to college for business, and invested his money wisely. He is now the high-paid executive of a company, spends barely any time in his penthouse apartment full of luxurious furniture, and, has been told, is the spitting image of his father when he’s dressed in a nice suit.

Significant Event in Life:

One day, not long after he’d been kicked out, Jeremiah was found in an alleyway, drunk off his ass, by one of his father’s former business associates. Luckily enough, the man recognized him, took pity on him, loaded the compliant teen into his very expensive car, and took him back to his suite in a nearby hotel. When Jeremiah woke up, he was hungover, confused, and, to put it gently, furious. There was a three-minute one sided shouting match at the older gentleman that had seen fit to take care of him, that was ended by a splitting headache. It was then that the fellow told him that he was going to have to pack away all of that emotion if he was going to get anywhere in life. Maybe it was because he was hungover, weak, and vulnerable. Maybe he was secretly a little grateful, but whatever the reason, Jeremiah took the words to heart. It took a while, but he likes to think he’s done a damn good job of packing away all of that emotion, only to use when really necessary. Because in reality, it’s the brain that gets you ahead in business, isn’t it?
